Stetson University: night one

Happy Father’s Day, drum majors of the world!

Tonight was the first night of Drum Major Academy here at beautiful Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. It was a hot one here in the Sunshine State today, but that didn’t keep our group of nearly 60 drum majors from learning and having a great time! After just one hour, campers were able to see just how much more effective a teacher they could be using a planned procedure. We also spent some time discussing the principals behind the basic conducting pattern as well as learning a few of the basics of marching.

Our first march-off winner:

Mirna Ezra, Coral Gables High School (Coral Springs, FL)

I’ll be filling you in some more as our week in Florida progresses. I have a feeling it’s going to be a great one!
