Student Safety at DMA

Drum Major Academy is committed to the safety and security of all our students. Our safety protocols are outlined below.

DMA Staff Assurance

  1. Every member of the DMA staff is background-checked according to the mandates of the state in which their Drum Major Academy workshop is held.
  2. This may also include online child abuse awareness and prevention training video programs, depending on the state and campus.
  3. Over 90% of our DMA teachers are professional music educators and so have been independently checked by their school districts.

DMA Student Safety Protocols

  1. DMA students may not have visitors during their workshop.
  2. Attendance is taken before each session.
  3. No student is permitted to leave class without notifying a staff member.
  4. Students move across campus together, to and from fields, meals, and dormitories. Students are not permitted to wander campus alone.
  5. Any student needing to be separated from the group for medical reasons will be assigned a staff member.
  6. Staff members will do room-checks each evening to be sure each student is in their room. Students are not permitted to leave their dormitory floor after room checks.

If you see behavior inconsistent with DMA values, whether directed at yourself or another student, tell a staff member immediately (bullying, harassment, sexual misconduct, etc).
